Your Input Needed: USDA Resilient Food System Infrastructure Program (RFSI)

The District has received $2 million through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure (RFSI) Program. The new federal funding will help strengthen the District’s “middle of the supply chain,” which is after foods have been harvested and before they reach consumers.

What kind of projects will these funds support?

These funds will support the distribution, processing, refrigeration, aggregation, and transportation of locally-grown produce and locally-made food products, with a particularly focus on historically underserved small businesses and producers. Most of these funds will be distributed via grants to individual businesses and nonprofits, and some will be used to provide other types of food system assistance. The District has some flexibility in how we prioritize these funds and how we distribute them.

We need your input as the District develops its four-year state plan on how to use these funds. Learn more about the RFSI funds and share your thoughts and idea by:
